Pompéia Stud Earrings

One of Lina Bo Bardi’s most enduring and well-known buildings is the SESC Pompéia. Sponsored by the Social Service of Commerce (SESC), Bo Bardi converted an old steel drum factory into a large center for leisure and recreation. She placed an emphasis on preserving the old building, showcasing its beauty, paying homage to the work that had happened in it, and then creating a space that promotes leisure and recreation.  The space that emerged cultivated community and tied all different people from all walks of life together and continues to do so to this day. She was a socialist and believed in equality for all. In that regard, the SESC Pompéia is the best encapsulation of her philosophy.  If you would like to learn more about the making of SESC Pompéia, this article is fascinating. These earrings are inspired by the windows of SESC Pompéia and measure approximately .75” across. Each pair is made by hand, so please expect a 2-4 week processing time.  5% of proceeds will be donated to Refugees International.   About Lina Bo Bardi -  Lina Bo Bardi (1914-1992) was an Italian-born Brazilian modernist architect, designer, illustrator, writer, editor & curator whose work was heavily inspired by Brazilian vernacular design but reimagined into modern Brazilian architecture. Her work was often based on experimentation and her philosophy geared towards developing and designing programs and buildings that nurtured collective living. Despite less than 20 of her architectural works being realized, she left a lasting impact on how people interacted and lived with architecture.
