In Uzbek tradition, a table set with many dishes is a table set with intention. This piece was made to hold that multiplicity. The octagon—eight-sided, infinite in Islamic geometry—has anchored Central Asian design for centuries. From the star-tiled courtyards of Samarkand to the wooden ceilings of Bukhara's madrasas, the eight-pointed form represents the cosmos in balance. Here, it becomes a vessel for hospitality. Eight trapezoidal compartments surround a central octagonal dish, forming a geometric bloom when assembled. Each section holds a cream ground bordered by emerald foliage heavy with ruby pomegranates—the fruit that grows in orchards throughout the Fergana Valley. The deep cobalt outer sections curve with scrolling arabesques in sage and cream. One trapezoid shows where the glaze ran slightly thicker at the base. Another has a tiny bubble frozen in the surface where air escaped during firing. The center medallion opens like a fan, its crimson and green palmette echoing the motifs around it. Limited to 50 sets worldwide. Each numbered and authenticated.
