Corazon Damselfish - Madagascar

Pomacentrus vatosoa The Corazon Damselfish, also known as Pomacentrus vatosoa, is a strikingly beautiful reef fish from Madagascar. Its pearlescent white body is accented with three distinctive black markings: one behind the pectoral fin, a saddle on the caudal peduncle, and a dark band near the dorsal fin. Growing to about 2 inches, it is a compact and visually appealing addition to marine aquariums. In the wild, Corazon Damselfish are found in reef zones around Madagascar, typically at depths of 15–20 meters. They are usually seen singly or in pairs and inhabit rocky crevices and reef slopes. Though small, they can be territorial, so providing ample rockwork and hiding spots in the aquarium helps reduce potential aggression. Corazon Damselfish are omnivorous and readily accept a variety of prepared foods, including flakes, pellets, frozen mysis, and brine shrimp. They are generally considered reef safe and will not harm corals or most invertebrates, making them suitable for community reef setups when housed with compatible tankmates. While they can be kept singly, care should be taken when housing multiple individuals, as territorial behavior may occur. With proper tank conditions, hiding spaces, and feeding, the Corazon Damselfish’s vibrant appearance and hardy nature make it a rewarding choice for intermediate and experienced aquarists alike.
