Specifications: Material: Polymer-impregnated Kraft liner board (PolyBak), medium brown, finished one side, FSC Controlled Wood, No Added Formaldehyde, made in the USA. Nominal Thickness: 0.020" (0.508mm). Density: 51 lbs/ft³ (816 kg/m³). Finish: Medium brown, smooth, paintable, and sandable surface, finished one side, no protective masking. Tolerances: Cut tolerance of +/-0.188" for all panel dimensions (in inches). Workability: Moisture-resistant, flexible, durable, and laser-safe for cutting and engraving. Easy to die-cut, sand, or bond to substrates (particleboard, MDF) using PVA or contact cement. Suitable for MDO signage and HDO concrete forms. Laser Compatibility: CO2 and diode laser compatible for cutting and engraving; check manufacturer settings for optimal results. Pro Tip: For laser cutting, secure PolyBak with a jig or tape to prevent movement, and use low power settings on CO2 or diode lasers to achieve clean, precise cuts without scorching. Ensure proper ventilation due to potential fumes from the polymer-impregnated material. For bonding to substrates like MDF or particleboard, apply even pressure with PVA or contact cement and allow adequate curing time for a strong hold. Sand lightly for a smoother paintable surface, and test small areas for engraving depth to ensure clarity on the medium brown finish. Store boards flat in a dry, temperature-controlled environment to maintain flexibility and prevent warping. FAQs: Is PolyBak good for laser cutting? Yes, it’s laser-safe for CO2 and diode lasers, cutting cleanly for stencils, templates, or prototypes. Check manufacturer settings to avoid scorching. Can I use this outdoors? Yes, PolyBak’s moisture resistance makes it suitable for limited outdoor use, such as MDO signage, but prolonged exposure may require sealing. Can I paint or engrave it? Yes, the finished side is paintable with eco-friendly paints and can be laser-engraved for custom designs, offering a smooth, medium brown backdrop. Can I use a diode laser? Yes, PolyBak is compatible with diode lasers for cutting and engraving. Adjust settings for the material’s density and check your laser’s manual. Why choose PolyBak over chipboard? PolyBak offers superior moisture resistance, flexibility, and strength due to its polymer impregnation, unlike chipboard, which is brittle and less durable. How does PolyBak compare to standard Kraft paper? Unlike standard Kraft paper, PolyBak’s polymer impregnation provides moisture resistance, flexibility, and durability, making it ideal for prototyping, stenciling, and overlays without cracking.
