We have a large lavender kunzite lamp on our meditation altar, and have found kunzite to be an aid in calming the mind, relaxing the body, and energizing the human bio-field. Properties of Kunzite Kunzite crystals are classed as semiprecious gemstones. Spodumene was discovered in 1877 in Brazil. The original finds of gem quality spodumene were yellow green in color, and it was known as chrysoberyl. Gemstone quality kunzite, such as this sparkling specimen, is translucent or transparent with a vitreous luster. Mineralogically, kunzite is a form of Spodumene. Spodumene comes in colors ranging from white, gray, yellow, emerald green, to pink, violet or pearly colored. Traditionally, only the pink to lilac colorations of spodumene were called kunzite, but recently the yellow varieties of spodumene have also been called kunzite, and we are comfortable with that nomenclature. Green spodumene is often called Hiddenite. Kunzite, or spodumene, is the most common Lithium ore on Earth, an aluminum silicate. Spodumene exhibits thermoluminescence, chatoyancy and often fluoresces under ultra-violet light. Because kunzite forms as prismatic crystals with strong striations parallel to their principal axis and has perfect cleavage, it is extremely difficult to cut into pendants, so kunzite pendants are unique and rare finds. The coloring in the violet & the pink forms of the silicate mineral spodumene, comes from the presence of manganese. Spodumene is an important industrial source of lithium. And as you may know, Lithium is an excellent mineral metaphysically for healing, for relaxation & for physical gentle soothing energies. Gemstone quality kunzite, such as this sparkling specimen, is translucent or transparent with a vitreous luster. Metaphysically, pink and violet kunzite works on the heart chakra to bring peace, feelings of love & self love, tranquility and joy. We often use this type of kunzite in our work with clients to bring a deep & sound peace of mind and relaxation during sessions. Kunzite, in our experience, can offer the wearer a profound relaxation. The presence of lithium, which is used in tranquilizing pharmaceuticals, in this healing crystal is thought to promote tranquility and peace of mind, relax the body and soothe the spirit. Kunzite energizes the upper chakras and can enhance loving communication, dissolve negativity and greatly enhance meditation. Because the energy field becomes so relaxed & tranquil when working with kunzite in our experience, it is a wonderful stone to wear when feeling overly anxious or stressed, and therefore would be very useful to wear in a crowded social situation, such as parties or family gatherings. In addition, pink and violet kunzite is said to connect the heart and throat chakra, providing the inner peace that is the prerequisite for speaking one's own inner truth, free from fear. Kunzite is also thought to provide a powerful energetic barrier to unwanted outside influences of all kinds by raising the vibrational frequency of the area around the stone. Lavender kunzite also activates and energizes the crown chakra, which is said to be violet, gold or white in color in the Western chakra system. Yellow kunzite activates and energizes the solar plexus chakra, which is said to have a yellow coloration in the Western chakra system. The solar plexus, or Manipura chakra, is connected to the inner fire that fuels our will forces, enhances our sense of self-confidence, and enables us to focus and direct our energy in pursuit of our desires and goals.   Overall, as you may know, Lithium is an excellent mineral used by crystal healers to induce mental and physical relaxation and prized for its gentle soothing energy signature.
