White Album Wintercreeper

White Album Wintercreeper (Euonymus fortunei 'White Album')White Album Wintercreeper is a compact evergreen shrub valued for its crisp green and cream-white variegated foliage, tidy habit, and dependable year-round color. Its bright leaves bring a clean, polished look to foundation beds, containers, low hedges, border fronts, and managed groundcover plantings. This improved wintercreeper selection offers a consistent habit and strong foliage contrast, making it useful where a smaller evergreen accent is needed. With full sun to partial shade, well-drained soil, and occasional trimming, White Album Wintercreeper provides easy structure and bright foliage through much of the year. Distinctive FeaturesWhite Album Wintercreeper forms a dense, low-growing evergreen to semi-evergreen shrub with green leaves edged in broad creamy white margins. The foliage gives the plant a clean, high-contrast appearance that works well with darker evergreens, flowering shrubs, perennials, and ornamental grasses. It is grown primarily for foliage rather than flowers, though small greenish flowers may appear and are usually not showy. Its compact mounding to spreading habit makes it useful as a low shrub, border plant, container accent, or managed groundcover where regular maintenance can keep growth neat. Growing Conditions Sun: Grows best in full sun to partial shade, with brighter light supporting strong variegation and dense growth. Soil: Adapts to average, well-drained soil and performs best where roots are not kept in constantly wet conditions. Water: Water regularly during establishment, then provide supplemental water during extended dry periods to keep foliage healthy and full. USDA Zones: Hardy in USDA Zones 5 to 8, with winter appearance varying by exposure and climate. Mature Size: Typically reaches about 18 to 24 inches tall and 18 to 30 inches wide with age, depending on pruning and site conditions. Habit: Forms a compact, dense, mounding to spreading evergreen shrub with a low, rounded outline. Ideal Uses Focal Point: Use as a bright variegated foliage focal point in containers, foundation beds, entry plantings, border fronts, or small garden spaces where year-round contrast is needed. Groundcover: Plant in managed beds where a low evergreen shrub can cover soil and provide clean white-edged foliage. Foundation Planting: Use near foundations where a low evergreen shrub can add structure and color without blocking windows or overwhelming the planting. Low Hedge: Plant in a short row to create a compact evergreen edge along walkways, patios, drive edges, or garden borders. Container Planting: Grow in decorative pots where its cream-edged foliage can brighten patios, porches, entryways, and outdoor living spaces. Low Maintenance Care Watering: Water deeply during the first growing season to establish roots, then water during prolonged dry spells as needed. Mulching: Apply a light mulch layer around the root zone to conserve moisture and reduce weed competition while keeping mulch away from the stems. Pruning: Prune lightly as needed to maintain shape, remove stray stems, or keep the plant compact and tidy. Reversion Control: Remove any solid green shoots promptly so the white variegation remains the dominant feature. Fertilizing: Fertilize only when needed in spring based on soil conditions, using a moderate approach that avoids excessive soft growth. Deer Protection: Deer may browse this plant in some landscapes, so young plants may need protection where browsing pressure is heavy. Why Choose White Album Wintercreeper?
