Plus Shelving System: 12" Maple

The Plus Shelving System occupies the thoughtful intersection of hardware and furniture—modular storage and display pieces that honor both practical function and material integrity. Install individually for punctuated architectural statements or in continuous runs that trace the geometry of your space, creating deliberate rhythms that speak to the considered eye. The system's intelligence lies in its modularity and chromatic possibilities. Solid wood shelves pair with powder-coated aluminum brackets—each bracket a deliberate punctuation of color against the wall plane. Available in four carefully curated hues, these brackets transcend mere hardware to become subtle compositional elements that animate the horizontal lines of the shelving system, creating visual tension between the warmth of wood and the precision of metal. The ingenious peg system—round forms that nestle into precisely spaced holes—transforms the shelf surface into a flexible landscape for vertical organization, keeping books upright or artwork perfectly stationed. This thoughtful detail speaks to the designer's understanding that storage systems must adapt to the evolving nature of how we live and display our collections, becoming stage sets for our most meaningful objects. Two purchasing configurations support systematic expansion: Base Units (two brackets, one shelf, six pegs) and Add-on Units (one bracket, one shelf, six pegs). This modular approach allows for organic growth while maintaining visual coherence across installations, ensuring that each addition contributes to an evolving architectural narrative. 35.5" × 12" × 3/4" thick (3 peg holes depth) 3.5" diameter powder-coated aluminum brackets 32" on-center bracket spacing for standard installation Modular design accommodates basic tool installation Made in New York Solid Maple construction, also available in different woods and sizes here Prices include shipping within the continental US Brooklyn designer Steven Gertner merges his grandparents' hardware shop legacy with Harvard Graduate School of Design training, creating contemporary storage solutions where craft precision meets spatial intelligence. "The Plus pieces are not engineered to disappear into anonymous bits of hardware," Gertner explains. "They are designed to have their own presence, point of view and, hopefully, beauty."
