Plain Straight Iron XL Functioning Hinge Strap

Designed for the biggest jobs and boldest builds, our Plain Straight Iron XL Functioning Hinge Strap delivers unmatched strength and durability in a clean, straightforward design. Ranging from 32" to 60" in length, this extra-large hinge strap is hand-forged to handle extreme heavy duty applications like drive gates, garage doors, carriage house doors, shop entrances, and oversized barn doors. The squared, utilitarian form is deceptively simple—free of ornamentation but rich in craftsmanship. Every hinge is forged for load bearing and weight bearing support, making it a key component in any project requiring long-lasting structural integrity and visual presence. Choose from multiple hinge types including barrel, low barrel, butt, mortise, reverse mortise, or pintle, and customize for left-swing, right-swing, or double-swing operation. As part of our heavy duty gate hardware line, each strap can be finished in any of our signature patinas and textures to suit the architectural style of your build—from rustic cabin to industrial estate. Made to order in our Idaho forge, this XL iron strap hinge is more than hardware—it’s a statement of strength, simplicity, and skilled American blacksmithing. Image shown  in black and all hammered.
