Brother PocketJet 8 Full-Page Mobile Thermal Printers Full-Page Printing for Vehicles, Field Service and Mobile Workforces The Brother PocketJet 8 Series provides full-page mobile printing in an exceptionally compact direct thermal printer. Designed to print letter-size documents without ink, toner or ribbon cartridges, PocketJet printers are widely used in law enforcement vehicles, pest control fleets, service vans, inspection departments, utilities, transportation, healthcare, route operations and other mobile environments. With support for media up to 8.5 inches wide, the PocketJet 8 can produce professional full-page documents including citations, inspection reports, service agreements, invoices, permits, notices, work orders, treatment records, proof-of-service documents and customer forms. The slim printer can be carried in a case, mounted inside a vehicle or integrated into an upfitted center console. The series includes standard-resolution and high-resolution models with USB-C, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and AirPrint options. Businesses can select a printer-only configuration, add the required battery and mounting components, or choose an available vehicle-kit SKU for a more complete mobile deployment. Why Choose a Full-Page Mobile Thermal Printer? Traditional mobile printers are often limited to narrow receipts or small labels. PocketJet 8 printers support full-page documents while remaining compact enough for a patrol vehicle, service van, tool bag or mobile workstation. Prints full-page letter, legal, A4 and custom documents No ink, toner or ribbon cartridges Direct thermal printing with fewer supplies to manage USB-C connectivity and charging support Bluetooth and Wi-Fi options on selected models 203 DPI and 300 DPI resolution choices Replaceable rechargeable battery available Vehicle power, mounting and roll-paper options Compatible with cut-sheet, fanfold and roll media Compact design for vehicle and field deployments Brother PocketJet 8 Model Comparison Model / SKU Resolution Connectivity Configuration Best Use Cases ``` PJ822 203 DPI USB-C Printer only Basic mobile document printing, service vehicles and USB-connected laptops PJ822-VK 203 DPI USB-C Vehicle-kit configuration Fleet deployments, patrol vehicles, inspectors, utility trucks and professional upfitters PJ823 300 DPI USB-C Printer only Detailed forms, smaller text, diagrams, contracts and inspection documents PJ823-VK 300 DPI USB-C Vehicle-kit configuration Government fleets, inspection departments, service vehicles and upfitted mobile offices PJ862 203 DPI USB-C and Bluetooth Wireless mobile printer E-citation, law enforcement, pest control, inspections, route service and mobile forms PJ863 300 DPI USB-C and Bluetooth High-resolution wireless printer Detailed inspection forms, insurance, contracts, pest control and field documentation PJ883 300 DPI USB-C, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and AirPrint Premium multi-connectivity printer Mixed-device fleets, iPad deployments, enterprise mobility and mobile offices ``` Printer kits and included components may vary by distributor SKU. Confirm the contents of the exact PJ822-VK or PJ823-VK part number before ordering. Brother PocketJet PJ822 The PJ822 is the standard-resolution USB-C model in the PocketJet 8 family. It prints at 203 DPI and is a cost-effective choice for field workers who primarily print text-based documents from a laptop, tablet or compatible mobile device through USB. The PJ822 is well suited for service reports, invoices, work orders, basic diagrams, treatment records, citations and forms that do not require wireless communication. The printer-only configuration allows organizations to select their own battery, power adapter, carrying case, paper format and vehicle mount. Best for: USB-connected laptops, basic forms, field service, utilities, service vans, inspections and organizations building a customized mounting solution. Brother PocketJet PJ822-VK Vehicle Kit The PJ822-VK pairs the standard-resolution PJ822 platform with a vehicle-oriented kit configuration. It is designed for organizations that want a more complete starting point for installing a full-page printer in a patrol car, inspection vehicle, utility truck or service van. The PJ822-VK is especially attractive to fleet managers and vehicle upfitters because it reduces the need to source every mobile power and installation component separately. Exact kit contents can vary, so the complete manufacturer or distributor part number should be verified before purchasing. Best for: Law enforcement fleets, municipal inspectors, utilities, service vehicles, code enforcement, animal control and professional vehicle upfitters. Brother PocketJet PJ823 The PJ823 provides the same compact USB-C platform as the PJ822 with higher 300 DPI print resolution. The added resolution improves the appearance of small fonts, fine lines, signatures, detailed graphics, inspection diagrams and forms containing dense information. The PJ823 is a strong choice for organizations that do not require Bluetooth or Wi-Fi but want higher-resolution documents. It is commonly used for contracts, inspection reports, insurance forms, healthcare documentation and mobile office workflows. Best for: Detailed forms, inspection diagrams, insurance documents, contracts, healthcare forms and USB-connected mobile offices. Brother PocketJet PJ823-VK Vehicle Kit The PJ823-VK combines 300 DPI full-page mobile printing with a vehicle-kit configuration. It is ideal for agencies, inspectors, service companies and upfitters that need sharper document output in an installed mobile environment. The higher print resolution is particularly valuable for documents containing small text, diagrams, legal language, detailed forms or images. As with the PJ822-VK, exact included accessories should be confirmed using the complete kit SKU. Best for: Inspection departments, government fleets, mobile healthcare, insurance adjusters, service vehicles and professional upfitting projects. Brother PocketJet PJ862 The PJ862 adds Bluetooth wireless communication to the 203 DPI PocketJet platform. It is one of the most versatile options for field workers who need to print full-page documents from compatible tablets, mobile computers, laptops and smartphones. Its balance of standard resolution, Bluetooth connectivity and USB-C makes the PJ862 particularly well suited for e-citation, law enforcement, pest control, inspection, route service and mobile forms. It is often the best choice when documents are primarily text-based and wireless printing is more important than 300 DPI image detail. Best for: E-citation, police vehicles, sheriff departments, pest control technicians, inspectors, route service, animal control and mobile field documentation. Brother PocketJet PJ863 The PJ863 combines Bluetooth and USB-C connectivity with 300 DPI printing. It is designed for mobile professionals who need wireless printing and sharper output for small text, detailed forms, diagrams, contracts and images. The PJ863 is an excellent option for pest control companies printing detailed treatment reports, inspection teams producing annotated forms, insurance adjusters documenting claims, healthcare personnel printing patient information and field-service organizations producing customer-facing documents. Best for: Pest control, detailed inspections, contracts, insurance claims, healthcare forms, mobile invoices and customer documentation. Brother PocketJet PJ883 The PJ883 is the most connectivity-rich model in the PocketJet 8 family. It offers 300 DPI output with USB-C, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and AirPrint support, making it a strong choice for organizations using a mix of Windows computers, Android devices, iPhones and iPads. Wi-Fi connectivity is particularly valuable for multi-user vehicles, mobile offices and enterprise deployments where workers need to print without a direct USB connection. AirPrint operates through a compatible Wi-Fi connection rather than Bluetooth. Best for: Enterprise fleets, mixed-device environments, iPad deployments, healthcare, mobile offices, inspectors and organizations requiring flexible wireless printing. Which PocketJet 8 Model Should I Buy? Choose the PJ822 for affordable 203 DPI printing through USB-C. Choose the PJ822-VK when building a standard-resolution vehicle installation. Choose the PJ823 for 300 DPI output without wireless connectivity. Choose the PJ823-VK for high-resolution printing in an upfitted vehicle. Choose the PJ862 for Bluetooth e-citation, pest control, inspection and field-service printing. Choose the PJ863 when Bluetooth and detailed 300 DPI output are both required. Choose the PJ883 for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C, AirPrint and maximum deployment flexibility. Best Use Cases Law Enforcement and E-Citation PocketJet 8 printers allow officers to print full-page citations, warnings, notices, crash reports, tow forms, affidavits and other documents directly from a patrol vehicle. Full-page output gives agencies more flexibility than narrow ticket printers and supports documents that require signatures, detailed legal text or multiple information fields. The PJ862 is a popular choice for standard-resolution Bluetooth printing, while the PJ863 and PJ883 provide 300 DPI output for forms containing small text or more detailed formatting. The PJ822-VK and PJ823-VK are well suited to fixed vehicle installations connected through USB. Pest Control Pest control technicians can use PocketJet printers to produce treatment records, inspection reports, chemical application documents, invoices, customer agreements, service summaries and regulatory forms at the customer location. Because the printer uses direct thermal technology, technicians do not need to carry replacement ink cartridges in hot or cold service vehicles. Bluetooth models can pair with compatible tablets and mobile devices, while vehicle-mounted configurations keep the printer secure and powered between appointments. Inspections and Code Enforcement Building inspectors, fire marshals, health inspectors, code-enforcement officers and environmental personnel can print notices, permits, inspection results, violation forms, corrective-action documents and customer copies in the field. Utilities and Public Works Electric, water, gas, telecommunications and public-works employees can print service notices, disconnection notices, repair records, inspection documents, permits, work orders and customer acknowledgements from their vehicles. Field Service HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, appliance repair companies and equipment-service teams can print work orders, estimates, invoices, maintenance reports, warranty documents and service agreements before leaving the customer location. Transportation and Route Operations Delivery companies, food and beverage distributors, route sales teams, towing companies and transportation providers can produce invoices, manifests, bills of lading, proof-of-delivery documents and route paperwork. Insurance and Claims Insurance adjusters can print claim summaries, inspection documents, customer acknowledgements, repair estimates and supporting paperwork while working at a loss location. Healthcare and Emergency Services Mobile healthcare, EMS and community-care teams can print patient instructions, care summaries, consent forms, transport documentation and other full-page records at the point of service. Designed for Vehicle Upfitters The PocketJet 8 Series is particularly well suited for professional vehicle integration. Its narrow profile allows it to fit into patrol-car consoles, armrest mounts, overhead mounts, utility-vehicle compartments and mobile workstations without taking up the space required by a conventional office printer. Vehicle upfitters can choose from console mounts, armrest mounts, roll-paper holders, snap-in holders, RAM mounting components, wired vehicle power adapters and protective mounting systems. This flexibility makes the platform suitable for new vehicle builds as well as printer replacements in existing fleets. Common upfitter deployments include: Police cruisers Sheriff vehicles Highway patrol and state police vehicles Fire inspection vehicles EMS and ambulance units Code-enforcement vehicles Animal-control vehicles Pest-control service vehicles HVAC, plumbing and electrical service vans Utility trucks Public-works vehicles Transportation and DOT vehicles Insurance-adjuster vehicles Route-sales and delivery fleets E-Citation and State Compatibility Brother PocketJet printers are used for public-safety, mobile-reporting and e-citation workflows throughout the United States. Actual compatibility is determined by the agency's e-citation application, operating system, connection method, printer driver, document format and vehicle configuration—not by the state alone.
