Pink Sea Urchin

The Pink Sea Urchin (Strongylocentrotus fragilis) is a species of sea urchin characterized by its round, spiny body typically ranging in color from pale pink to reddish-purple. These sea urchins are found along the Pacific coast of North America, from Alaska to Baja California. Pink Sea Urchins inhabit rocky reefs and coastal waters, where they graze on algae and other marine vegetation using their specialized mouthparts and teeth-like structures known as Aristotle's lantern. They play a vital ecological role by influencing the structure and composition of underwater habitats through their feeding habits. All sea life specimens vary slightly in size and shape. You will receive a high quality specimen of the selected item but not the exact one pictured.
