Pin Ups, Paris 1973

PHOTOGRAPHER: JUSTIN DE VILLENEUVE This photograph is a color photography featuring supermodel Twiggy and pop rock icon David Bowie. The shoot took place in Paris, where Bowie was working on his new album Pin Ups. Twiggy and the photographer had just returned from their vacation in the Bahamas. De Villeneuve did not expect the models' skin color to be so different. The problem was solved by makeup artist Pierre Laroche, who had just returned from Aladdin Sane, using makeup masks to balance the tones. This series of photos was initially intended for the British magazine Vogue but ultimately, Justin De Villeneuve decided to give the photos to David Bowie for the cover of his new album Pin Ups at the cost of his relationship with the fashion magazine, who never to worked with him again. 16” x 20” – Edition of 50  20” x 24” – Edition of 50 30” x 30” – Edition of 50 40” x 40” – Edition of 50 Prints hand-numbered by Justin de Villeneuve
