Pieris Mountain Fire Plant

Unusual Evergreen Looks Great Year-Round Primarily grown as an ornamental plant, the Pieris Mountain Fire sports many interesting features. It is perfect for the gardener looking for an unusual specimen plant for a shady corner. From late winter into early spring, Pieris Mountain Fire lives up to its name because it looks like it has been set ablaze when new leaf growth brings a pop of flaming red tones. This unique effect can occur again in mid-summer under the right conditions, and is truly out of this world. If that wasn't enough, the most remarkable aspect of Pieris Mountain Fire is that pinkish-white flower clusters form in unusual hanging chains that dangle from the plant like crystals on a chandelier. It is truly an exquisite and dramatic sight and uncommon in the plant world. These densely-packed, bell-shaped blooms are delicate and deliciously fragrant, and will typically last for over a month. Pieris Mountain Fire is an absolute eye-catcher that deserves to be put on center stage in a very important spot in your garden. Growing to a mature height of 4-8 feet with a 3-6 foot spread, this slightly arched shrub can easily be shaped into a lovely low privacy hedge.
