Philodendron Rojo Congo

Philodendron Rojo Congo is a patented hybrid, bred by crossing Philodendron Imperial Red with a Philodendron tatei selection. New leaves unfurl in a brown maroon green wash before settling into large, thick, very dark green blades, with petioles that stay a deep purple brown to red purple the whole time. Like its Green Congo relative it is self heading, so it builds a full, upright plant with no pole or trellis required. Give it a spot on a plant stand or console table where the color contrast of the petioles can stand out. For more indoor plant ideas see our tropical plant care guide, or browse the rest of the houseplant collection. Arrives in a 6 inch pot. Keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.
