These Petoskey Stone pebbles are polished on the top to reveal the hexagonal pattern of fossilized coral, in shades of light beige to dark brown. Pebble Size Range: 2.5" - 3" long 1.5" - 2" wide 1/2" - 1.5" thick Pictures are representative of the pebble you will receive, but each is unique in shape and size. If you have a preference on pebble shape/color (i.e. flatter or thicker, darker or lighter) please describe in your Order Notes. Petoskey Stones are a type of fossilized coral that can be found on the beaches of the Great Lakes, primarily Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, or in rock quarries across the upper Midwest. The polyps of the ancient coral, hexagonaria, create the honeycomb patterning seen on the stones. While also a fossil, the Petoskey Stone is the official State Stone of Michigan!
