This classic cookie jar, produced in 1960, is known as “Lock on the Door!” It depicts the 1825 English nursery rhyme, “Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater.” Basically, it’s about a husband who can’t control his wife, so locks her in a pumpkin. It’s such a terrible concept that I don’t know why a cookie jar, supposedly a happy work of art, was created to celebrate the poem. I guess I’m going to give the jar away, because it’s too creepy.
