This Peter Rabbit Tile was designed by Pewabic founder Mary Chase Perry Stratton in the 1920s for use in school fireplaces around the Detroit area. Due to degradation of tile molds over the years, some tiles have been resculpted throughout Pewabic’s lifetime. This tile was resculpted by Troy Walker in the 1990s. He kept the overall design created by Mary while giving the tile more depth with a higher sculpted relief. Photographed alongside our 3" x 3" Rabbit Tile and 4" x 4" Daffodil Tile both in our Celadon glaze. 6” x 12” Handcrafted in Detroit Individually hand-pressed in our own stoneware and glazed by Pewabic artisans Pewabic logo stamped on back Slight variations in glaze and firing results ensure each handcrafted Pewabic piece is one of a kind Available in Celadon
