Peter Max: Crimson Lady, 1987

Hand Signed Lithograph | Peter Max's Crimson Vision of the 1980s Crimson Lady is a perfect example of Peter Max's evolution from the counterculture's "King of Psychedelic Art" to his fluid, expressionistic, studio art phase. As the title boldly states, this artwork prominently displays a Neo-Fauvist palette anchored by the deep crimson paint that frames a poised celestial profile of a woman. Her pose radiates with serene confidence despite the bold, swept line-work of the artist's energetic brush, expressed in vibrant primary colors. This portrait is the perfect characterization of Max's mid-career subjects, released as a limited-edition, lithograph. Numbered in the lower left, just above the blind stamp, and signed by the artist in the lower center.
