Petal Drift

The water of a lotus pond sits still but never feels empty. The green is deep and layered, and the small pink blooms sit on top of it like they are just opening. I hoped to keep that sense of calm, the feeling of looking down into something alive and unhurried. The surface is full of texture, with raised leaves and flowers that catch the light and then hold it. There are two small boats resting in the water, one on each side, and they give the whole scene a sense of stillness. The glow-in-the-dark elements add a soft pulse that appears when the room goes dark, making the pond feel like it keeps breathing on its own. Size: 36.0 × 18.0 × 3.0 inches
