Peruvian Scrunchie/Bracelet A scrunchie (or scrunchy) is a fabric-covered elastic hair tie used to fasten medium to long hair types. The elastic hair tie is encased in loose fabric that forms a ruffle when twisted around a ponytail.  For those of us who have short hair, these scrunchies make the perfect bracelet.   Made from Peruvian fabrics, these are beautiful ways to enhance  *Why is it called a scrunchie? Inspired by the design of the elastic waistband on her sweatpants and named after her dog, the "scunchie" (pronounced SKOON-chee) was born. It would only later become known as the scrunchie.
