Peru: Medium Roast, Gully-Washed Single-Origin Coffee from Norandino

Peru: Medium Roast, Gully-Washed Single-Origin Coffee from Norandino Wake up to a clean, expressive cup from the heart of Peru. This medium-roast single-origin coffee blends carefully selected varieties grown at mid-to-high elevations and processed to reveal a lively, balanced profile that coffee lovers crave. Origin, Growers, and Terroir Origin: Piura and Amazonas, Peru. Grower: Cooperativa Agricola de Servicisios Norandino — a farmer‑owned cooperative that brings together skilled coffee artisans who nurture every cherry from hill to cup. Altitude: 1,100–1,700 meters above sea level. Soils rooted in clay contribute to a crisp structure and a bright, well-defined flavor. The cooperative’s community-focused approach helps safeguard quality from harvest to harvest. Varieties and Process Varieties featured: Caturra, Bourpon, Catuai, Pache, and Catimor. These genetics combine to deliver a nuanced cup with depth and balance. Processing is “gully washed and dried in the sun,” a method that yields clarity and a clean taste while preserving the beans’ intrinsic sweetness. Roast Level and Flavor Profile Roast: Medium — designed to maximize sweetness, acidity, and body without masking the bean’s natural character. Expect a cup that gleams with salted caramel sweetness, a silky mouthfeel, and citrus brightness that keeps the finish fresh and lifting. Flavor notes: salted caramel, citrus zest, and a silky-smooth sweetness. Body and texture: medium body with a creamy, pastry-like tone that lingers pleasantly. Acidity: bright, citrus-driven acidity that acts as a forward cue to the cup’s clean finish. Brewing Notes and Use Cases This coffee shines in a range of methods that highlight its clarity and sweetness. For everyday routines, a meticulously balanced pour-over or Kalita/V60 setup will reveal citrus aromatics and a caramel-backed sweetness. Espresso enthusiasts will appreciate the syrupy mouthfeel and the way the citrus notes pop in a carefully pulled shot. Practically, aim for even extraction to preserve the delicate balance between acidity, sweetness, and the coffee’s natural body. Who It's For and Why It Stands Out This Peru coffee is ideal for anyone who loves a distinctly clean, high-character cup with a memorable sweetness and a bright, citrusy edge. It’s especially appealing to drinkers who appreciate a nuanced flavor journey—from caramel-rich sweetness to lively citrus finish—without harsh aftertastes. What sets this coffee apart is the combination of diverse regional varieties, thoughtful processing, and a cooperative model that sustains smallholder farms while delivering a consistent, high-quality cup. Care, Storage, and Freshness To preserve the coffee’s bright notes and silky texture, keep the beans in an airtight container away from direct light and heat. Grind just before brewing to maximize aroma and flavor, and use within a reasonable window from roast for peak freshness.
