everything i ever wanted was inside my personality, by yvette nepper

Poetry, chapbook, 32 pages, from Bottlecap Features. everything i ever wanted was inside my personality is a new chapbook out by yvette nepper, the author of 26 poems for grown-ups and children (perfect lovers press, 2012) and you’re the same age as i am, i love you, a poetry zine. everything i ever wanted is the product of an accumulating queer sexuality that’s been finding its voice since the mid to late 1950s. the poems work to crack a code deeper than the meme while seducing you with pop cultural references. the author set out to write a book about what happens when humans abandon social media for magic, but this is more than a book about magic. maybe it’s about interdimensional conversations with deceased celebrities and unassuming archetypes. and maybe it’s just another story told from the author’s perspective. if you’re looking to cast your own spells with numbers and words, you should read this book. yvette nepper lives and writes in the city she loves, cincinnati, ohio. in between the structured altitude of daily living, she is a mother, a partner, a daughter, a sister, and a therapist, who enjoys talking to people about their anxieties and their dreams.
