Persimmon Soap For Body Odor

For stubborn body odor at ANY age. Persimmon soap has gotten a reputation as the soap for “old people smell.” But that's only part of the story. Persimmon became famous in deodorizing body care largely because of nonenal, an odor compound associated with aging skin. Research has found 2-nonenal increases with age and, in one landmark study, was detected in the 40+ subjects rather than the younger group. But nonenal isn't the only compound that smells. And people under 40 definitely aren't immune to body odor. That's why we didn't formulate Persimmon Bar as an “aging odor” soap. We formulated it for stubborn body odor. Period. Our Persimmon Bar combines persimmon + zinc oxide + French green clay with our tallow-based soap formula to create a full-body cleansing bar made specifically with odor-prone skin in mind. Underarms. Underboob. Feet. Skin folds. Butt. Behind the ears. If it gets funky, this bar was made with it in mind. Why Persimmon? Here's where persimmon gets really interesting. Persimmon is naturally rich in tannins, a type of polyphenol. And while persimmon has become especially well known because of nonenal, research on persimmon tannin preparations suggests its deodorizing activity isn't necessarily limited to that one compound. Persimmon tannin preparations have also demonstrated deodorizing activity against volatile sulfur compounds in laboratory research. In other words: Persimmon isn't interesting ONLY because of “old people smell.” And that's exactly why we wanted to explore what it could do in a bar made for all-over body odor at any age. And then we added Zinc Oxide. Because apparently we don't know how to leave well enough alone. Instead of making another basic persimmon bar, we paired persimmon with zinc oxide—and there's a very specific reason we chose it. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human study, topical zinc oxide reduced self-perceived underarm odor and reduced levels of odor-associated Corynebacterium and Staphylococcus hominis compared with placebo. Now, important distinction: that study was conducted on a leave-on zinc oxide preparation—not our soap. We're not claiming our bar produced those clinical results. But the research is one of the reasons we got so freaking excited about putting persimmon + zinc oxide together in an odor-focused formula. Then we added French green clay and built the whole thing into our tallow-based soap. What's inside? PERSIMMON Naturally rich in tannins and the ingredient that made persimmon famous in deodorizing body care. ZINC OXIDE An ingredient deliberately chosen for our odor-focused formula, with human research behind its use for axillary malodor in a different topical formulation. FRENCH GREEN CLAY Helps cleanse the skin and absorb excess oil and impurities. TALLOW Creates the rich, creamy, skin-conditioning base our handmade soaps are known for. COCONUT OIL Adds cleansing power and that big, bubbly lather we love. SUNFLOWER OIL Adds skin-conditioning fatty acids to balance the cleansing formula. SWEET ORANGE Gives Persimmon Bar its fresh, clean citrus finish. Who is Persimmon Bar for? You don't have to be 40+ to use persimmon soap. We made this bar for anyone dealing with stubborn external body odor—whether that's from sweaty underarms, underboob, feet, skin folds or those areas that somehow seem funky again way too soon after showering. Because body odor is complicated. Sweat, skin oils, bacteria and numerous volatile compounds can all play a role. Funk doesn't check your ID first. Will it dry out my skin? We wanted serious cleansing without making a bar that feels like it took the first three layers of your skin with it. That's why Persimmon Bar starts with our combination of tallow, coconut oil and sunflower oil. You get the cleansing and lather you expect from a body bar, balanced with the rich, creamy feel that makes our handmade soaps different. How to use Wet your Persimmon Bar and work it into a rich lather. Massage onto external skin, paying extra attention to areas prone to sweat and odor. Rinse thoroughly. Use daily or as needed. And keep this baby dry between showers. Store it on a well-draining soap dish and allow it to dry completely between uses to help your handmade bar last longer. For external use only.   Ingredients: Sodium Tallowate (Tallow), Sodium Cocoate (Coconut Oil), Sodium Sunflowerseedate (Sunflower Oil), Diospyros Kaki Fruit Extract (Persimmon Extract), Zinc Oxide (Zinc Oxide), Illite (French Green Clay), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Peel Oil (Sweet Orange Essential Oil).
