This stunning permineralized conifer wood with mummified wood is not just a fossil, but a truly unique piece of art. What makes permineralized wood so captivating is its intricate detail and remarkable preservation. Over millions of years, as wood becomes buried in sediment, minerals seep into its cellular structure, replacing organic material with crystalline beauty. The result is a mesmerizing fusion of wood and mineral, where delicate cellular patterns are etched in stone, capturing the essence of the tree's growth and texture. Sourced from Zwenkau, Germany, these type of fossils are incredibly rare. The mine where this piece of permineralized wood was found has since been closed and filled; no more pieces will become available. Age: Triassic Period; 200-250 MYA Dimensions: 5" W x 3.5" D x 17.25" H
