Perfection Planetary Geared Violin Peg

Knilling Perfection Planetary Geared Pegs offer a modern, reliable tuning solution for violin, viola, and cello. Designed with a built-in 4:1 gear reduction, they provide smooth, precise tuning—eliminating slipping and the need for traditional fine tuners. The internal planetary gear system allows for controlled, accurate adjustments, giving players a stable and responsive tuning experience. Technical Specification Standard Fit: Same shape, weight, and taper (1:30) as traditional pegs Peg Heads: Available in Ebony, Rosewood, or durable ABS synthetic Shank: Aircraft-grade aluminum, anodized and fixed in place once installed Planetary Gears: Internal geared system (1:4 ratio) for smooth, precise tuning; sealed and permanently lubricated Gear Materials: High-strength steel for durability and long-term reliability Shaft: Made from anodized aluminum and Delrin nylon; rotates to wind the string Operation & Adjustment Perfection pegs function similarly to traditional pegs—but with greater precision, stability, and ease of use. Turn the peg head to adjust pitch Press inward to increase resistance and securely hold string tension Pull outward to reduce resistance and make tuning easier Adjust the “firmness” to your preference—without risk of damaging the internal mechanism Once set, simply turn the peg to tune up or down as needed Measuring & Selecting pegs Measure your instrument before ordering to ensure a proper fit. Measurements should be taken where the peg enters the pegbox (peg head side). For the most accurate measurement, remove the pegs and measure the hole diameter. For an estimate, measure the existing pegs with calipers while they are still installed. Choose the Perfection peg size that is slightly larger than your largest peg hole. Newer instruments typically use smaller sizes, while older instruments often require larger pegs.
