Peonies and Canary

Big blowsy peonies in cream and coral hanging down from the top, a small canary caught mid-dive with its wings spread, all set against a deep blue ground that really makes the flowers pop. It's one of Hokusai's flower-and-bird prints, and the loose, soft petals are the heart of it, lots of curving shapes and shading in the blooms, the bird tucked in for a bit of movement. The blue background fills in fast, so the time goes into the flowers where it counts. A graceful, slightly old-world piece, nice for a bedroom or anywhere you want a quieter bit of color.
