Kentucky Peerless Small Batch Rye 750 ml

Kentucky Peerless Small Batch Rye represents a celebrated revival of a storied brand dating back to 1881, when the original E.W. Worsham & Co Distillery in Henderson, Kentucky produced whiskey under the Peerless name until Prohibition shuttered operations. In 2014, Corky and Carson Taylor revived this legendary brand by refurbishing a building in downtown Louisville and obtaining the original Kentucky Distilled Spirits Plant Number (DSP-KY-50) from the historic distillery. This small-batch rye represents the distillery's unwavering commitment to craft excellence and distinctive methodology. Bottled at barrel proof and non-chill-filtered to preserve maximum flavor, Kentucky Peerless employs a distinctive sweet mash fermentation process—a rarity in the industry where most distillers use sour mash. With only six barrels blended per batch and barrels sourced from smaller, premium cooperages, every element of production reflects meticulous attention to detail. The well-balanced profile is bolstered by sweet tones of maple, brown sugar, and light citrus sweetness, punctuated by spicy rye backbone and warming baking spices. The finish offers a hint of oak with no harsh burn—a testament to Kentucky Peerless's thoughtful distillation process. At approximately 54-56% ABV and bottled unfiltered, this is a rye whiskey for the discerning collector seeking authentic craft quality and genuine character from a brand steeped in American whiskey heritage.
