Pediment Bed

Introducing Roseland's Pediment Bed, inspired by the neoclassical revival of the 18th century and adapted to modern use. Its profile draws from the crisp lines of early American rope beds and the lighter adornment of the era. We developed it in partnership with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and four percent of revenue supports the foundation’s work preserving early American trades. In 18th century America, pediments established hierarchy and proportion above doors, windows, and furniture. Early pediment-styled rope beds were a stark yet beautiful application in the bedroom. This version maintains those lines with thoughtful adjustments for contemporary mattresses. The mattress sits within the rails, while the headboard and optional footboard begin nine inches and five inches above the rails, respectively.  A slotted dado joint in the headboard posts allows for interchangeable headboard faces. Surface-mounted Häfele steel bed-rail brackets create a rigid connection designed for repeated assembly without loosening. Built from solid American cherry or black walnut, each bed is hand-rubbed with purified raw linseed oil from California for a zero-VOC finish that deepens with age and can be renewed over time.
