Its architecture handles everything from high-pressure GDI injectors to high-flow conventional (PFI) injectors with the same precision and repeatability. A single driver for Direct Injection (GDI) and Conventional Injection (PFI). Configuration and diagnostics via CAN (VisionFT/FTManager), or via DBC for use with third-party CAN tools. Electronic and thermal protections with LED indication. Three-stage control strategy: BOOST → PEAK → HOLD, delivering better repeatability under short pulses and high RPM. Boost stage The Boost stage operates with a configurable voltage up to 65V and a configurable maximum current up to 25A, accelerating injector coil magnetization and reducing opening time. The result is lower latency on short pulses and faster actuation response. Peak & Hold control Following the Boost stage, the Peak & Hold control sustains a peak current of up to 25A and a hold current of up to 25A, ensuring complete injector opening without overheating throughout the entire pulse — especially well-suited to GDI injectors as well as conventional injectors. Channels and communication 8 independent, configurable channels for Direct or Indirect Injection. 2 additional channels for controlling the high-pressure fuel pump regulator valves. Each channel operates in isolation — semi-sequential. CAN network (VisionFT/FTManager) for configuration and monitoring. 35-pin connector with dedicated harness. Configurable parameters Real-time adjustments via CAN (ECU integration): Boost, peak, and hold currents Boost, peak, and hold voltages  Multiple injection profiles Multi-pulse actuation  Parameter updates supported within the safety monitoring system Monitoring and protections Injector or driver fault detection with LED indication. Injector fault detection: overcurrent, open circuit, and short circuit to ground/positive. Driver thermal warnings and protection. Battery overvoltage and undervoltage protection, including "low boost" power-loss detection. Operating range: -20°C to 125°C (-4°F to 257°F). Installation Install with the battery disconnected and the harness disconnected from the module. Run the power ground directly to the battery negative, without splices (do not connect to chassis, block, or cylinder head). Keep the harness as short as possible; trim excess and avoid coiling wires. Protect against heat, moving parts, and sharp edges; use protective sleeves/grommets. Construction and durability Precision-machined aluminum housing with high thermal dissipation. Sealed against dust, moisture, and condensation. Suitable for street and track operation.   SPECS Dimensions: 142.9 mm (W) × 187.2 mm (L) × 53.4 mm (H) — approx. 5.63 × 7.37 × 2.10 in  Weight: PRO HV-8 packaging: 1.4 kg (≈ 50 oz) PRO HV-8 module: 1.057 kg (≈ 38 oz) PRO HV-8 harness: 0.840 kg (≈ 30 oz)  Package content: 1 module 1 electrical harness for installation (optional with purchase) 1 installation and operation manual  Warranty: Worldwide: 1 year    FAQ 1. What is the PRO HV-8 Injector Driver? The PRO HV-8 is a high-voltage, high-current automotive module engineered for precise actuation of GDI (Direct Injection) and PFI (conventional) high-flow injectors, in low or high impedance. Its Boost → Peak → Hold architecture ensures fast opening, repeatability under short pulses, and stable, accurate operation throughout the entire injection cycle. 2. Which vehicles is the PRO HV-8 suitable for? Ideal for street, race, and daily-driver vehicles using GDI or high-flow conventional injectors. Works engines with up to 8-cylinders, naturally aspirated or turbocharged, running ethanol, gasoline, or blends. 3. Does the PRO HV-8 improve engine performance? Yes — not by generating power on its own, but by delivering the precise control and actuation speed that allow the engine to unlock its full potential safely. Direct benefits include: Drastically faster injection response, with conventional-injector dead time reduced from approximately 1.4 ms to 0.3 ms. Stable, consistent idle even under varying electrical load (alternator, fans, headlights), thanks to high-voltage regulation. More linear fuel maps and improved atomization across all regimes, simplifying calibration and improving drivability. Repeatability under short pulses and at high RPM, validated up to 12,000 RPM. Ability to run a single bank of high-flow injectors on high-power engines (eliminating dual-bank setups), with greater operational safety and lower risk of damage from a lean condition. Together, these gains translate into a more consistent engine that's easier to tune and capable of operating safely in regimes that were previously impractical with conventional drivers.  4. Does the PRO HV-8 help with drivability and idle? Yes. Injection becomes smoother at low load, misfires are reduced, idle is stabilized, and high flow injectors can be used without sacrificing day-to-day driveability.  5. Which injector types does the PRO HV-8 support? The PRO HV-8 is compatible with most injectors: GDI injectors: Bosch, Hitachi, EcoBoost, TSI, BMW GDI, and similar. PFI injectors in low and high impedance, including high-flow units. 6. How many channels does the module have? 8 independent injector channels, with support for simultaneous (overlap) actuation across them. 2 additional channels for fuel pumps or actuators, operating independently (no overlap between the two). 7. What is the Boost phase and why does it matter? The Boost phase is the initial stage of the actuation cycle, in which the PRO HV-8 applies up to 65V and up to 25A — well above the 12–14V available from the vehicle's main supply. This elevation accelerates injector coil magnetization, drastically reducing opening time — in conventional injectors, dead time can drop from approximately 1.4 ms to 0.3 ms. The practical result is lower latency, greater dosing precision, and near-instant response — factors that are essential for control under short pulses, high RPM, and high-pressure GDI applications. 8. What are the supported Peak & Hold currents? The PRO HV-8 supports a peak current (Peak) of up to 25A and a hold current (Hold) of up to 25A. The peak ensures complete mechanical opening of the injector — complementing the high-voltage Boost stage that accelerates that opening — while the hold keeps the valve open in a stable manner throughout the pulse, without excessive heating. This combination delivers consistent, repeatable response across a range of injector types, including high-flow and low-impedance models. 9. How is the PRO HV-8 configured? PRO HV-8 configuration is performed entirely over the CAN network, with no need for additional proprietary hardware. Customers in the FuelTech ecosystem use VisionFT or FTManager for parameterization and diagnostics; projects using third-party ECUs and tools can work directly with the DBC file provided by FuelTech. Through the interface, you can adjust boost, peak, and hold currents and the boost-stage voltage in real time during setup or operation. 10. Does the PRO HV-8 work with any ECU? Yes. It is brand-independent and integrates with any OEM or aftermarket ECU that sends injection signals by pulse or CAN. 11. Does the PRO HV-8 improve short-pulse and high-RPM control? Yes. It maintains stability and repeatability even under very short pulses or high engine speeds (up to 12,000 RPM). 12. What protections does the module include? The system includes automatic detection of: Open circuit Short circuit Supply voltage drop Power loss on the high-voltage (Vboost) stage Thermal protection. 13. Does the PRO HV-8 replace separate PFI and GDI modules? Yes. On a single platform, the PRO HV-8 combines both injection topologies (GDI and PFI), eliminating the need for additional modules and duplicated setups. For drag racing tuners, this often replaces the need for dual injector banks — a single set of injectors becomes sufficient, without sacrificing flow or precision. 14. Does the PRO HV-8 replace the Peak & Hold PRO? No — they serve different scenarios. The Peak & Hold PRO remains the recommended choice for conventional injection within its segment. The PRO HV-8 is the right choice when the project requires: A single bank of high-flow injectors on high-power engines (no dual bank); Stable idle with high flow injectors; GDI injector actuation*. The PRO HV-8 is not plug-and-play: it requires its dedicated harness. *GDI control is available on the VisionFT line in Beta, subject to consultation with FuelTech Technical Support. 15. Can the FT700 (VisionFT) control direct injection? The PRO HV-8 Injector Driver is compatible with any ECU capable of direct injection control. The FT700 supports Direct Injection in Beta mode; to gain access to this version and obtain setup guidance, please contact Technical Support. 16. Can the PowerFT VCUs control direct injection? The PRO HV-8 Injector Driver is compatible with any ECU capable of direct injection control. However, the PowerFT line does not include this feature.
