Suncrest Peach Tree

Suncrest Peach Tree produces the kind of peach many people remember as the ideal of peak summer: large, richly colored, intensely fragrant, and so juicy it is best eaten with a napkin nearby. The golden skin develops a deep sunrise-red blush, while the yellow freestone flesh inside balances abundant sweetness with refreshing acidity and a full, lingering peach aroma. Allowed to ripen on the tree, Suncrest has a lush texture and depth of flavor that explains why it has inspired such devotion among growers, cooks, and writers. The fruit is spectacular fresh, but its size and rich flavor also make it a favorite for pies, cobblers, preserves, canning, and freezing. For shoppers seeking a classic orchard peach with genuine personality, Suncrest promises the messy, fragrant, unforgettable experience that commercially picked fruit rarely delivers. Suncrest needs about 500 chill hours and is suited to USDA zones 5–10. In suitable climates, the harvest typically runs from mid- to late July. The semi-dwarf tree benefits from full sun, well-drained soil, consistent summer moisture, annual open-center pruning, and early thinning to help its large fruit finish well. Suncrest is self-fruitful and can produce as a single tree. Another compatible peach nearby may increase pollinator activity and support fruit set. An earlier low-chill peach or a later Fairtime tree can also turn one concentrated harvest into a longer home-orchard season.
