PCAN-Wireless Gateway

The PCAN-Wireless Gateway allows the connection of different CAN busses over IP networks. CAN frames are wrapped in TCP or UDP message packets and then forwarded via the IP network from one device to another. The PCAN-Wireless Gateway provides one WLAN connection and two High-speed CAN interfaces. The module is supplied in a plastic case with two D-Sub connectors or a Tyco automotive connector. The PCAN-Gateway product family is configured via a convenient web interface. Alternatively, the JSON interface allows access via software. Both options provide status information and settings of the devices, the various communication interfaces, message forwarding, and filters. Features Tech Specs Documents Downloads With the PCAN-Gateways, CAN busses can be connected via LAN or WLAN. CAN frames are wrapped into TCP or UDP message packets and then forwarded from one device to another. Based on this technology, it is possible to connect CAN networks over a great distance. The configuration of the PCAN-Gateway product family is done via a convenient web interface. For this, the device must be connected to the PC via LAN or WLAN, depending on the used model. The web interface can be opened with a common browser. After a successful login you get access to all information and the configuration of the device settings, communication interfaces, message forwarding, and filters. Alternatively, the JSON interface is available for access. This allows the development of software to automatically monitor and configure all devices connected to the IP network. Functions of the web interface Clear presentation of information about device settings, communication interfaces, message forwarding, and filters Definition of the public visibility of status information Import and export of device configurations Reset of the device configuration to factory defaults Comfortable software updates Scan of the IP network for further available PCAN-Gateways for an easier establishment of routes Layout automatically adjusts for mobile devices Rebooting the device via the website Enabling, disabling, and configuration of the JSON interface Integrated help pages CAN channels settings Selection of bit rates up to 1 Mbit/s from a preset list Setup of user defined bit rates via register values Status switching of the listen-only mode LAN interface settings (if available) Automatic or manual setup of the device‘s IP address (IPv4) and the subnet mask WLAN interface settings (if available) Set the WLAN operating mode to Infrastructure (Client), Ad-Hoc, or Access Point Automatic or manual setup of the device‘s IP address (IPv4) and the subnet mask Connection to the wireless network Configuration of the network encryption Setup and management of the message forwarding Setup of the message forwarding between a CAN channel and LAN/WLAN (or vice versa) Selection of the participating CAN channel Definition of the LAN/WLAN station according to the IP address and the port Selection of the transfer protocol TCP or UDP Enabling, disabling, and editing of existing routes Disabling the PCAN-Gateway Handshake to allow the connection to other devices Properties of the message filtering Creating and managing filters via a new section of the web interface Creating Filters with different options: Filtering messages with 11-bit or 29-bit IDs Support of range and mask filters Optional inversion of the filter range Assigning a filter to multiple routes Functions of the JSON interface Receiving of a request as a JSON-formatted GET parameter of an HTTP request Returning of the response in JSON format Reading out authorized information about device settings, communication interfaces, message forwarding, and filters Configuration of settings as well as adding and deleting message forwarding and filters (function is deactivated at delivery) Alternative access to the JSON interface via an emulated shell view with integrated documentation for an easy start ARM9 Freescale iMX257 with 16 kByte Level 1 Cache and 128 kByte internal SRAM 256 MByte NAND Flash and 64 MByte DDR2 RAM Linux operating system (version 2.6.31) CAN bus connection via D-Sub, 9-pin (in accordance with CiA® 303-1) or via automotive connector, 12-pin (Tyco) Wake-up function using CAN bus or separate input Monitoring and configuration of the devices via the web interface or JSON interface Reboot and reset of the device to factory defaults with a reset button Plastic casing with flange, dimensions: 130 x 110 mm LEDs for device status, WLAN, and power supply Voltage supply from 8 to 30 V 5-Volt supply to the CAN connection through a solder jumper, e.g. for external bus converter (only for IPEH-004020) Extended operating temperature range from -40 to 85 °C (-40 to 185 °F) Wireless properties WLAN IEEE 802.11 b/g Internal chip antenna Data transmission using TCP or UDP CAN properties Two High-speed CAN channels (ISO 11898-2) Bit rates from 40 kbit/s up to 1 Mbit/s TJA1041 CAN transceiver Compliant with CAN specifications 2.0A and 2.0B PCAN-Wireless Gateway manual PDF manual in English PCAN-Gateway developer documentation PDF documentation in English PCAN-Gateway quick start PDF quick start guide in English Virtual PCAN-Gateway manual PDF manual for virtual gateway in English Virtual PCAN-Gateway setup This is the PEAK-System installation package for device drivers and tools for Windows® 10, 8.1, 7 (32/64-bit).
