Pavot Bowl

The Audo Copenhagen Pavot Bowl brings that perfect balance of looking like an ancient artifact while feeling completely at home in contemporary spaces. Designed by Colin King, this footed bowl is crafted in aluminum with an elegant aged finish that evokes ancient craftsmanship without being literal about it. The foot draws inspiration from the organic shape of a poppy seed head - subtle enough that you might not notice immediately but distinctive enough to give it character. At 17.5cm high and 20.5cm in diameter, it's sized perfectly for coffee tables, console tables, or bedside surfaces where you need something with presence but not so large it dominates. The gently curved lines and textured patina create visual interest that makes it compelling whether it's holding objects or sitting empty as a standalone sculptural piece. What makes the Pavot Bowl genuinely useful beyond just decoration is how it functions as a catch-all for those everyday objects that usually just pile up on surfaces - keys, jewelry, watches, sunglasses, or whatever accumulates throughout the week. The footed base lifts it off the surface, giving it architectural presence while making it easier to clean underneath. Note that it's not approved for food use, so this is purely for decorative or organizational purposes rather than serving snacks or fruit. The handmade nature means each bowl varies slightly (dimensions can differ by about 3%), which adds to the character rather than being a quality issue - no two are exactly identical. The aged finish is forgiving about fingerprints and minor handling marks, developing more patina over time rather than looking pristine forever. Works beautifully holding decorative objects like pine cones or ornaments, corralling small items in entryways, or simply sitting as a sculptural element that adds warmth and history to minimalist spaces. Audo Copenhagen was formed by uniting MENU, by Lassen, and The Audo, creating a brand that collaborates with designers who bring unexpected backgrounds to product design. Colin King, professionally trained as a dancer before transitioning into styling and design, works at the intersection of spatial awareness and aesthetic sensibility. Based in Tribeca, New York City, he balances on-set styling for major publications like Architectural Digest and T Magazine with designing from his studio. His work draws continuous inspiration from everyday rituals, gestures, and imperfections - finding beauty in how objects evolve and exist within spaces over time. The Pavot Bowl reflects this philosophy, blending traditional design references with contemporary minimalism to create functional objects that bring sophistication and a sense of history to modern interiors.
