Paulina Pendant

Sometimes, heirlooms are lost to time, yet occasionally, pieces find you when you least expect it. This pendant features an image of a circular brooch with a scalloped edge, giving it a floral or sunburst-like appearance. Radiating outward from the center are several pointed, petal-like shapes filled with small, sparkling stones. The background between the points is possibly black enamel, which creates a strong contrast with the bright, reflective stones and pearls, enhancing the overall brilliance of the piece. The style suggests the original piece could have dated from the late Victorian to the Edwardian period. The combination of dark enamel, gold, and sparkling stones was popular in fine jewelry during this time. The original brooch likely dates to the early to mid-19th century, probably within the Georgian or early Victorian period. The use of a dark background with inlaid white flower is reminiscent of the mourning jewelry popular during these eras.
