In 1968, Patek Philippe released the Golden Ellipse. Debuting eight years before the iconic Nautilus, the Ellipse—with its distinctive oval shape—was unlike anything else in Patek Philippe’s catalogs. And in the early 1970s, Patek expanded the Ellipse line to include squarish case shapes - immediately dubbed "TV Cases" or "Jumbo" by enthusiasts. But it's the Ellipse that has recently garnered further attention. This particular Reference 3938/1J is once such example. Finished in solid 18k yellow gold, this svelte piece comes in at 35mm in diameter and features a lovely blue 'sigma' dial with applied yellow gold indices and a matching handset, a signed crown, and a fantastic woven bracelet finished in solid yellow gold. Absolutely fantastic. In recent years, collector attention has finally returned to the Ellipse, and these vintage classics are getting the eyes and wrists they deserve. Watches such as this one are fun and wonderful timepieces, and there's no telling if and when one of these in any condition will surface again, so don't wait! *Due to the design of this bracelet, sizing alterations may require custom work. Lead time after measurements are established is 4-6 weeks.*
