Parrot Bay Key Lime 750ML

Parrot Bay Key Lime 750ML is a Caribbean rum-based liqueur flavored with key lime, bottled at 21% ABV (42 proof) in a 750ml format. Distinguished by its use of key lime — a smaller, more tart variety than common Persian limes — this expression delivers a punchy citrus character uncommon in the flavored rum category. Quick Facts: ABV: 21% (42 proof)  |  Origin: Caribbean Rum Base  |  Style: Key Lime Flavored Rum Liqueur  |  Producer: Diageo Production & Heritage Parrot Bay is produced under the Diageo portfolio, one of the world's largest spirits conglomerates. The base spirit is a white Caribbean rum to which natural key lime flavoring is added before bottling. The choice of key lime over standard Persian lime is a deliberate one — key limes carry a sharper tartness and a more aromatic citrus oil profile, giving this liqueur a flavor that reads as distinctly tropical rather than generically citrusy. At 21% ABV, it sits firmly in the liqueur category, making it more approachable and versatile as a mixing ingredient than full-proof flavored rums. Tasting Notes Aroma: Bright lime zest dominates immediately, with a subtle rum warmth underneath. There is a cologne-like freshness to the nose, almost like lime aftershave, tempered by a faint sweetness. Taste: The entry is sugar-sweet lime that quickly builds into a tart, citrusy peak at mid-palate. As it develops, the Caribbean rum base surfaces with gentle warmth, balancing the acidity. The overall impression is juicy and vibrant without being cloying. Finish: Medium-short, with tangy lime lingering alongside a mild throat warmth from the rum. The tartness fades cleanly, leaving a refreshing citrus echo. How to Drink Parrot Bay Key Lime At 21% ABV, this is designed for mixing rather than contemplative sipping. Served chilled as a shot or over crushed ice, it works as a straightforward warm-weather pour. For cocktails, it excels in a Key Lime Pie Martini, where its natural tartness replaces both the citrus juice and some of the sweetener in a classic dessert cocktail. A Rum Punch benefits from its lower proof, adding lime brightness without pushing the drink's ABV too high. It also shines in a Frozen Daiquiri, where the key lime flavor integrates seamlessly with blended ice for a slushy tropical serve. It leads with sweet, tart key lime citrus that builds to a tangy peak before a mild rum warmth emerges on the finish. The overall profile is bright, refreshing, and sweeter than a standard lime-flavored spirit. How does Parrot Bay Key Lime compare to Malibu? Both are 21% ABV flavored rum liqueurs, but Malibu is best known for its coconut expression with a creamy, tropical sweetness, while Parrot Bay Key Lime leans sharply citrus and tart. Malibu, owned by Pernod Ricard, tends toward richer, dessert-style drinks, whereas Parrot Bay Key Lime suits brighter, more acidic cocktail builds. Is Parrot Bay Key Lime good for cocktails? Yes — its 21% ABV and pronounced lime flavor make it a natural cocktail ingredient that adds both citrus character and sweetness without overwhelming a drink's balance. It is particularly effective in frozen blended drinks, punches, and dessert-style martinis. Where is Parrot Bay Key Lime made? Parrot Bay Key Lime is produced by Diageo using a Caribbean white rum base. The rum is flavored with natural key lime before bottling, with production and distribution managed through Diageo's global operations. What foods pair well with Parrot Bay Key Lime? Grilled shrimp tacos complement the citrus tartness with smoky, savory contrast. Key lime pie is an obvious match that echoes the liqueur's dominant flavor. Coconut macaroons pair well, as the cookie's sweetness balances the lime's acidity. Fresh ceviche shares the same bright citrus lane, making a natural pairing. Mango sticky rice bridges the tropical and sweet notes effectively. What sizes does Parrot Bay Key Lime come in? The standard and most widely available format is the 750ml bottle, though Parrot Bay products have also been offered in 1.75L handles depending on market availability. Is Parrot Bay Key Lime worth the price? Parrot Bay Key Lime positions as a budget-friendly flavored rum liqueur, sitting at the value end of the flavored spirits category. For the price, it delivers consistent, crowd-pleasing lime flavor that works hard in mixed drinks and batch cocktails, making it a practical bottle for entertaining. Why Parrot Bay Key Lime? What separates this expression from the crowded flavored rum shelf is its reliance on key lime rather than standard lime — a distinction that delivers noticeably sharper tartness and more complex citrus aromatics. The 21% ABV positions it as a purpose-built mixer that contributes flavor without steamrolling a cocktail's balance, a practical advantage over higher-proof flavored rums that demand more careful proportioning. Within the Diageo portfolio, Parrot Bay occupies a specific niche: accessible, tropical, and unapologetically fun, without pretending to be something it is not. For anyone building a home bar aimed at warm-weather entertaining, it fills a role that few other bottles at its price point can match.
