Parlour (Lecture Notes)

Parlour is a collection of three refined, audience-tested routines drawn directly from the working repertoire of Rafael Benatar. These lecture notes are designed for performers who work beyond close-up - offering material that plays clearly, engages spectators, and feels natural in stand-up and parlor settings. Each routine in Parlour focuses on strong structure, clear moments, and practical handling rather than flashy gimmicks. The emphasis is on making the spectator the focal point of the magic, allowing the performer to create moments that feel personal and memorable. Inside, you’ll find a polished stand-up card routine inspired by classic thinking, a streamlined silk-and-glass effect updated for modern performance, and a thoughtfully constructed prediction piece refined through real-world use. Together, these routines reflect Benatar’s approach to magic: elegant, purposeful, and built to work in front of real audiences. WHAT’S INCLUDED Pages – A stand-up card routine inspired by classic ideas, structured so the spectator becomes the hero of the effect. Rage Therapy – A cleaned-up silk and glass routine that requires no special gimmicks and focuses on clarity and flow. Altered Destiny – A prediction effect refined by Rafael Benatar from earlier concepts into a polished, practical routine. WHY TANNEN’S LOVES IT At Tannen’s, we appreciate lecture notes that offer usable material, not just ideas—and Parlour does exactly that. These routines are thoughtful, well-structured, and clearly built for performers who care about audience connection and clean execution. It’s a great example of how strong magic doesn’t need excess - it needs clarity, purpose, and experience.
