Parallel Coffee Table

The Woud Parallel Coffee Table turns your living room into a mini gallery by borrowing the display case concept straight from museums and making it work for everyday life. Designer Magnus Pettersen created this clever interplay between a tempered glass top and white pigmented lacquered oak veneer frame that creates this floating exhibition space underneath - perfect for showing off your favorite books, ceramics, or whatever objects you want people to actually notice instead of just tossing onto a regular table surface. The 90x90 cm proportions work well in most spaces without dominating the room, and the FSC-certified oak gives it that Scandinavian warmth without trying too hard to be rustic or overly natural. The 10mm tempered glass top handles daily use beautifully while the lacquered oak frame provides stability that you can feel when you set things down - no wobbling or that hollow feeling you get with cheaper furniture. What's smart about the design is how the space between the horizontal planes becomes this intentional display area rather than just dead storage where things get forgotten. The silicone caps protect your floors and keep everything stable, and the overall construction has that solid, permanent feel that suggests it'll be around for decades rather than just a few years. The white pigmented finish on the oak keeps it looking fresh and contemporary while still feeling like real wood rather than some synthetic alternative. Woud operates with this philosophy that Scandinavian design should evolve rather than just repeat the same themes endlessly. Founded by Mia and Torben Koed, the Danish brand focuses on collaborating with international designers who understand how to blend minimalism with genuine functionality, which is exactly what Magnus Pettersen brings to the table. His Norwegian background and UK-based practice give him this perspective on how furniture should work in real homes rather than just looking good in magazines, and his focus on creating emotional connections through design shows up in details like the museum display concept that makes organizing your space feel more intentional and curated.
