Set yourself free! With the Paragon Knife Ovens you'll no longer find yourself wrapping blades and shipping them to your heat treater, no more waiting until you have enough blades ready to get the bulk pricing, no longer turn away last minute orders! Once you've gotten used to your new Paragon furnace, you'll question how you ever got along without it! The ease and speed of your heat treating will never be easier. You'll find renewed excitement and vigor in your craft as you find there is nothing stopping you from finishing your blade as soon as possible! For millennia, knives have had their place in history: Wherever humans have withstood severe tests - whether in the steaming jungles of the South Pacific, the cruel deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan, or the Chosen Reservoir - they have depended upon great knives. Wherever explorers have gone, they have taken great knives with them - over the prairies and mountains of the American West, across the desolate plains of the North Pole, through the silence of deep space. Knives have always accompanied explorers on great journeys. Yet knife making, itself, is an adventure all its own. It begins when the future owner shares the dream of a special knife with the maker. They talk excitedly over the first rough sketches. Then the maker retires to his shop and loses himself in the creation of the knife. Time disappears; the hours tick by as he grinds, heat treats, polishes. Paragon is ready to make new history - with you. Solid State Relays A solid state relay is hands down the best investment you can make in your kiln! Lucky for you - solid state relays come standard on every Paragon KM oven! Relays are what control the power cycling of the elements in the kiln and they need to be able to withstand a ton of power as they do so. The solid state relays are incredibly efficient compared to the standard mechanical relays and are able to operate at much faster speeds. What this equates to is incredibly tight temperature control for accurate firings, longer element life, and savings on your electrical bill! Paragon mounts their solid state relays to aluminum heat sinks for optimal efficiency. In addition, as an added safety feature, all kilns come with a standard mechanical relay as a backup. Drop Door & Swing Door Styles All of Paragon's kilns in the standard KM line have the option of selecting either a swing door or drop door. Options are power! The swing door is a standard beauty, but we prefer the drop door with it's smooth one-handed operation as it opens downward. Designed with a counter-weight system, the door will close securely every time. Whether you choose a swing or drop door, both are mounted upon a heavy-duty 1/2" thick hinge shaft for smooth, effortless opening. With the sturdy construction on this rigid case and hinging, you may expect this door to withstand years and years of loyal service. Type-K ¼" Wide 14 Gauge "Special Limit" Wire Thermocouples Paragon's thermocouples offer superior accuracy! Made with ¼" wide Type-K, 14 gauge "special limit" wire, these exposed-tip thermocouples give a speedy response time and accurate, even temperature holds. Controller Selection Sentinel Touchscreen by Barlett Instruments Our top-of-the-line controller for Paragon kilns! Only available when ordered with the Gas Inlet Flow-Meter + Solenoid Valve! The Sentinel is a touch screen option which has extended functionality over traditional button controllers. Easy-to-follow screen descriptions simplify programming. Give a title to each custom program. Use up to 32 segments per program. The novice mode is ingeniously simple, with questions that help you program each step. The Sentinel Smart Touch controller give a continuous amperage and circuit voltage readout during firings. At a glance, you'll be able to tell if the voltage drops or when to replace elements.   Edit the program during firing with skip a step, add segments, add temperature, and add Time. Want to ensure you're alerted when your kiln reaches a desired temperature? Easily set an alarm! All of your firing information will bee displayed in a beautiful graph during operation.     Sentinel TouchXpress The Sentinel TouchXpress is a full-color touchscreen controller that replaces the standard Sentry 3-key unit. No problem — add segments, change hold times or temperatures, or skip steps mid-firing. Watch your firing unfold with a real-time graphical display. The TouchXpress also includes built-in safety and diagnostic features, plus an Auxiliary Output (AOP) circuit for controlling external devices. It’s Wi-Fi enabled for fast software updates and offers error code memory for easier troubleshooting. Gas Inlet Flow Meter During a typical heat treating process, oxygen in the furnace will form a scale on the surface of metals. To minimize this surface scaling, many heat treaters will wrap their parts in heat treating foil. This can be a timely process and many expert knife makers and heat treaters prefer to inject an inert gas into the furnace to displace the oxygen. By ordering the gas inlet flow meter, this becomes a simple operation to add to your heat treating process! The flow meter solenoid kit is an optional addition to the gas inlet flow meter. By inducing an electrical current, the solenoid kit enabled you to turn the gas on or off for each segment of the firing. This is practically a must have when utilizing the gas inlet flow meter and truly allows for the optimal control of your gas injections! Please note that in addition to the flow meter, you will need to prepare your gas (Argon is popular and usually the most economical) and a pressure regular adjusted to less than 20 psi. Furnaces are not air tight and gas will leak. Ensure your workshop is properly ventilated. The Sentinel 12-Key or Sentinel Touchscreen controller is required to operate the gas inlet flow meter.
