Paradise Courts

[[Release Detail]][[Release Description]] Embark on a journey around the planet and discover the world’s most beautiful tennis courts through the sun-drenched photography of Emanuele d’Angelo. Known globally by his artistic alter-ego Broken Rackets, d’Angelo is a prominent figure in the international tennis scene. His body of work balances the rapid-fire ballet of the sport while keeping as much of an eye courtside at the globally-renowned figures in the crowd. A former fashion-industry insider whose discerning eye now shapes campaigns for elite houses, d’Angelo fell in love with the sport after attending the finals of the US Open. Since then, his practice has evolved into a global quest to chronicle the hidden glamour and architectural purity of the sport’s dream courts, scouring the globe for courts that epitomise the glamour and core of the sport, from the crystalline shoreline of Lake Como, James Goldstein’s iconic Los Angeles hillside estate, and the storied hard courts of New York’s Central Park. A statement book for the true connoisseur, Paradise Courts features a curated selection of over 200 original images by d’Angelo, carefully arranged in a large format, hardcover-bound volume with a tennis-ball-yellow spine and an elegant green velvet slipcase. Throughout the book, Foster Kamer interviews Reilly Opelka the 6’11” American serve maestro whose taste for museum-grade contemporary art mirrors his top-20 ATP career and Ted Gushue talks to James Goldstein, the legendary Los Angeles personality and owner of the John Lautner-designed Sheats-Goldstein House, providing a seldom-seen insight into the lives of tennis aficionados and sportspeople alike.
