Papoose Sitka Spruce

The Papoose Sitka Spruce gives you evergreen color and shape in a slower-growing form that is easier to enjoy over time. Its sharp, two-tone blue-green needles bring cool color and crisp texture to the landscape in every season. In late spring, clusters of buds open at the branch tips and create blossom-like bursts of fresh foliage, giving you a softer, more detailed look just when the garden is picking up speed. With only 3–6" of growth a year, a dense habit when young and a tight broad upright form with age, this is an evergreen that offers strong presence without feeling unruly. Full sun performance, Zone 5 hardiness and considered deer resistance add even more everyday value. Keeps the Landscape Looking Finished All Year Papoose Sitka Spruce gives your garden a steady visual anchor when other plants come and go with the seasons. Its blue-green needles hold color through the year, helping the landscape feel fuller and more complete even when flowering plants are not at their peak. The two-tone effect also adds depth, so the plant brings more interest than a flat green evergreen. For you, that means stronger contrast, better texture and a garden that keeps its shape in every season. Adds Seasonal Detail Without Relying on Blooms Late spring brings one of this plant’s most appealing moments. Clusters of buds open at the branch tips and create blossom-like bursts of foliage that soften the look of the tree and add a fresh layer of interest. This gives you a clear seasonal change while keeping the lasting value of an evergreen. It is an easy way to add variety to the garden without depending on a short bloom window. Offers Structure with Less Worry Over Time Because Papoose Sitka Spruce grows just 3–6 inches a year, it is easier to manage and simpler to fit into the landscape for the long run. Its dense, globose habit when young gives you a full look early, then it develops a tight, broad upright form with age for added structure. Full sun and Zone 5 hardiness make it dependable, and its considered deer resistance adds another useful advantage for many gardeners.
