Papillon IV

There’s no better way to bring life to an empty wall than our Papillon IV Art. We reimagined this piece from an antique naturalist illustration depicting several species of these winged insects, which caught our attention as we leafed through stacks of delicate, aged pages at a Paris flea market. Upon closer inspection, we were delighted to find that this particular page dated all the way back to the late 1700s, when it appeared as as highly-detailed, hand-colored plate in an encyclopedia of entomology. Out of the many butterflies depicted, our eyes were especially drawn to this beauty — so, once back in Chicago, we got right to work on our reinterpretation, upping its scale, tweaking a few colors and removing any surrounding text to create a giclée print with a fresh, updated feel. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the final product, which holds its own in modern traditional spaces alike while also honoring the old-school charm of that original etching. Printed and framed in-house, our Papillon IV Art is certain to become a favorite in your art collection, whether it’s hanging on its own our alongside the rest of our Papillon Art Collection.    •giclée print on high-quality matte paper  •reproduction of one-of-a-kind vintage artwork •black solid wood frame  •attached hanging wire    Dimensions •21.5"W x 1.25"D x 21.5"H
