The Windrush motif is derived from a pencil and watercolor rendering that William Morris meticulously crafted between 1881 and 1883. Named for a tributary of the Thames, Windrush is one of the nine designs William Morris named for rivers. According to his daughter, May, the pattern was “named in memory of pleasant summer journeys along the Windrush valley.” Cahier notebooks are the quintessential companion for observers, wanderers and bons vivants. They are the bohemian cousins of the more established journal set and are flexible enough for use in any situation. But do not underestimate their sturdiness, for they will withstand the journeys of any life with strength and grace.
