Pacific Whale Foundation – Molokini and Turtle Arches Snorkel

Pacific Whale Foundation Knows How to Snorkel Molokini Pacific Whale Foundation offers a unique Molokini snorkeling tour that is more than just another Maui snorkeling trip. It’s also an opportunity to learn about the preservation efforts that are underway to protect the most valuable resource Maui has, its ocean residents. In the island activity business, Pacific Whale Foundation is known as the environmental leaders in the State of Hawaii and are worthy stewards of our reefs, marine life and ocean.  Molokini Crater is a crescent-shaped volcanic formation and a partially collapsed caldera. Its unique location just off the coast makes it a quick and scenic boat ride—and one of Hawaii’s top snorkeling destinations. The Pacific Whale Foundation uses a mooring pin that’s set apart from the crowded areas where most snorkel tours anchor. This gives you a more peaceful and intimate experience. Molokini is home to over 250 species of tropical fish, swimming through colorful coral reefs in crystal-clear waters. It’s hard to find a better place to snorkel in all of Hawaii. Snorkeling gear is provided by Pacific Whale Foundation, though you’re welcome to bring your own. The tour uses a large power catamaran, designed specifically for Hawaiian waters. These boats offer excellent stability and a smooth ride, even in open ocean conditions. At Turtle Arches, you’ll have the chance to snorkel with Hawaiian green sea turtles in their natural environment. To support environmental awareness, PWF includes an educational reef tour led by an onboard naturalist. They highlight the delicate state of marine ecosystems and explain why ocean conservation matters—not just on Maui, but globally. The turtles are truly incredible. They move gracefully through the water, calm and carefree, creating a peaceful and magical experience. Founded in the 1980s as a small non-profit by Greg Kaufman, the Pacific Whale Foundation (PWF) has grown into one of Maui’s largest activity providers. They are also strong advocates for ocean conservation. In addition to their renowned whale watching tours, PWF offers a dinner cruise and Lanai Dolphin Snorkel tours. While based on Maui, their research efforts extend to the South Pacific to better understand the impact of climate change on our oceans. Each year, PWF gives back to the community through fundraisers and awareness programs that showcase the beauty and challenges of Maui. Some of their sponsored activities include the popular “Run for the Whales” 5K and ocean events that pay tribute to the majestic Humpback Whale.
