Outnumbered

"Usually, learning a trick means understanding how it works. With this book John Bannon may have you performing tricks without knowing how they work." - David Regal In John Bannon’s newest book Outnumbered you will discover incredibly deceptive card tricks that will fool you as you perform them. It’s like learning magic incantations. You do the procedure leading to surprising, inconceivable results. If it’s magic to you, it will be magic for your audiences. These effects also adhere to a construction that John Bannon is known for: Along a sort-of “garden path,” the audience believes the trick is about one thing, only to discover that the performer was really going after something else. Top that with fooling methods and your audiences don’t stand a chance. Tricks with numbers are often considered mathematical tricks. Some tricks with numbers may be premised on basic math-like principles but require no “math” or calculation by the performer. It’s in the design, not the execution. Nevertheless, the label often puts magicians off what otherwise can be very effective tricks as you will discover in Outnumbered. Rest assured; these are NOT your uncle’s mathematical card tricks. They are show pieces that feel like real magic. They are card tricks you will add to your existing repertoire and do for years to come. CONTENTS: Game, Set, Match! – Pairs of cards freely formed by your spectator match the total of some pocket change that has been on the table since the outset. A strange combination of Will the Cards Match and Jack London’s Almost Real Prediction. But not quite… Blindsided Plus – What if could actually tell the future—or some of the future—but you didn’t understand what it meant. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? In this amazing trick, you will find out. It’s self-working (or ridiculously easy, depending on your definition). The deck is regular. No one will see the ending coming. And no one will figure out how it’s done (even if they’re familiar with the underlying principle). Counter Intuitive – An impossible location that makes the discover of the selected card unimaginable in the absolute fairest conditions possible (or so they think). If you are not familiar with this method, it might become your new favorite toy. Psychic Encounter – the same incredibly clean discovery as in Counter Intuitive but with a completely different method. Cosmic Conspiracy - Under impossible conditions, the performer’s predicted card appears at a participant’s freely-chosen thought-of number. What’s more: the participant’s mentally-selected card appears at the performer’s predicted number! The Sum of All Fours - If you want to do a close-up, no-pressure, self-working, full-blown, four-by-four, fifteen ways to Sunday, show off your inner math geek superpower, magic square, this is the way to do it. It’s an effective way to introduce your audience to the magic square’s truly amazing properties. All of these effects are like toys you will use to fool yourself and your audience. You’ll bring that feeling of amazement to your spectators as you won’t fully understand how the magic happens. In this book you learn the incantations to do what seems like real magic. Here are what a few people have said after reading Outnumbered: "This proves what I’ve said for years: Bannon counts." - Raj Madhok "More proof of John’s brilliance. It takes a special talent to create fun, commercial effects based on math principles that effectively hide the underlying math. Get a copy and never be outnumbered in your “battle” with laymen." - Charlie Randall "Usually, learning a trick means understanding how it works. With this book John Bannon may have you performing tricks without knowing how they work." - David Regal "Outnumbered is John Bannon's newest book and I strongly recommend it. All of the effects use really interesting principles that will make you feel like you are doing real magic as things will happen that you simply won't understand. These effects are magic toys that will delight you and your spectators. Recommended." - Tim Trono
