Planting and Application: These pretty Shrub Roses will suit traditional, rustic, contemporary, and ultra-modern homes with ease. They make beautiful hedges to greet your guests. You'll appreciate the elegance of a tightly controlled, formal rectangular planting. And of course, with this modern selection, you won't have much work to do! Take this idea and run with it to create a streamlined series of long, narrow planting boxes throughout your landscape. You'll instantly gain a memorable focal point. For a continuous hedge, plant them between three and four feet apart on center. You'll measure from the center of one to the center of the next. Want faster results? Place them closer together. Prefer a looser look? Give them a little elbow room from their neighbor. Of course, you'll be tempted to add them to your shrub borders. Place them on the south side of mature evergreens. Or, repeat them as a lovely backdrop to smaller perennials. Get ready to see butterflies! They'll flock to the nectar, and come back for more again and again. Why not add their "flower power" to your Butterfly Garden or include their elegant long stems in a Cut Flower border? Freshen your existing foundation plantings with Oso Easy® Double Red Roses. Try a pair flanking either side of your front door. They tolerate road salt, so you can also use them along your street. Double Red Rose performs very well in large containers. Can you imagine how great they would look in dark gray or dark green glazed pots? Style them however you like! Use these sun-lovers on pool decks, patios, balconies and porches that bake in full sun all day. If you have a tough spot, try these durable, easy-care landscape Roses. It needs at least 6 hours of direct sun per day. This shrub rose grows best in slightly acidic, well-drained soil. Plant them in a raised bed with proper pH if you have sticky, alkaline soil. Roses appreciate plenty of Rose food to keep them blooming. Give them a slow-release fertilizer in early spring and mid-summer to support all those pretty blooms. Apply a medium amount of even moisture to keep the soil moist, but not wet. Use a three-inch layer of mulch over the root system to keep it nice and cool. This is especially true of container-grown plants or those in raised beds. Cut down on your maintenance by installing an automatic drip irrigation system. It's easy, and the results are well worth it! Wait until early spring to prune back last year's growth down to 12 inches. Remove any broken, crossing, or winter-damaged branches.
