Orthoceras Fossil Sphere~CRFORTH1

Orthoceras Fossil Sphere~CRFORTH1~Orthoceras is an extinct genus of marine cephalopods that lived roughly 400 to 488 million years ago during the Paleozoic era. Its name is Greek meaning "straight horn," describing its long, cone-shaped shell. A distant prehistoric ancestor of modern squids, octopuses, and nautiluses. It had tentacles and a head protruding from the wide end of a chambered shell. It sed a central internal tube called a siphuncle to pump gas and fluid into chambers, creating buoyancy helping it rise or sink in the water. It swam using jet propulsion or crawled along the seafloor with tentacles Frequently found in Morocco, Sweden, and parts of North America. 60mm .
