Original Wooden Spinning Wheel

Step back in time with this early 20th-century Indian spinning wheel, a tangible link to India's struggle for independence and a testament to the enduring spirit of self-reliance. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's call for a return to traditional crafts, this spinning wheel, or "charkha," is more than just a tool; it's a symbol of national pride and resistance. Handcrafted from wood and featuring original iron strap-work, this charkha showcases the intricate detail and craftsmanship typical of the era. Each element, from the delicately carved wheel to the sturdy legs, speaks to the dedication and skill of the artisan who created it. The slightly oxidized wax finish adds a rich patina, further enhancing its antique charm. While it bears the marks of time with some age wear and blemishes, these imperfections only serve to deepen its authenticity and historical significance. Imagine the stories this spinning wheel could tell – of quiet evenings spent spinning yarn, of the hum of the wheel blending with the rhythm of daily life, of a nation finding its voice through the simple act of creation. This charkha is a captivating piece of history, perfect for collectors, history enthusiasts, or anyone seeking to add a touch of history and charm to their home. *Era: Antique *Material: Wood/Iron *Size: 36.5"(L) x 20“(D) x 22.5"(H) *Color: Brown *Condition: Wear consistent with age & use, blemishes and imperfections will be present.
