Origanum - Barbara Tingey

Some of nature’s most enchanting handiwork, Origanum ‘Barbara Tingey’ is an ornamental oregano with free-flowing blooms that look like tiny pieces of botanical origami. Purple-tinged, papery bracts surround delicate flowers, creating a cascading, layered effect that is both textural and romantic in sunny borders, dry gardens, containers, and herb-inspired plantings. Also known as Barbara Tingey oregano, this useful and beautiful perennial brings aromatic foliage, long-lasting color, and wonderful movement to low-water gardens. The trailing flower clusters are especially lovely spilling over walls, edging paths, or softening the sides of pots. Bees and other pollinators visit the blooms, while gardeners appreciate its drought tolerance, fragrance, and excellent performance in lean, well-drained soil. Plant Origanum ‘Barbara Tingey’ in full sun with sharp drainage. It is a great choice for rock gardens, Mediterranean plantings, pollinator borders, and container combinations with salvias, thyme, lavender, grasses, and silver foliage. Pretty, aromatic, and wonderfully useful, it earns its keep beautifully. Explore more practical garden favorites in our Edible & Useful collection.
