Orient Pendant

The Fritz Hansen Orient Pendant captures the essence of mid-century Danish design through Jo Hammerborg's 1963 masterpiece, where organic sculptural beauty meets exceptional craftsmanship to create a lighting fixture that feels both timeless and thoroughly contemporary. This isn't just another pendant light - the Orient represents Hammerborg's genius for transforming functional lighting into pure art through its distinctive curved silhouette that conceals the light source while delivering soft, glare-free illumination. The hand-spun shade, available in lustrous aluminum, rich copper, or sleek black lacquer, creates that coveted organic expression through traditional metalworking techniques, while the elegant wooden top - oak or rosewood - adds natural warmth and textural contrast. Whether suspended over your dining table, kitchen island, or as a striking focal point in any room, the Orient pendant delivers ambient lighting that enhances both daily living and special gatherings with signature Danish sophistication. What makes this pendant extraordinary is the meticulous hand-craftsmanship that defines authentic mid-century design excellence. Each shade is individually spun over a wooden mold, ensuring the completely original organic shape that makes every Orient pendant unique while maintaining perfect proportions. The 24 narrow vertical slits at the top of the shade allow light to filter upward, creating beautiful patterns on the ceiling while the main illumination flows downward in a warm, even distribution. The delicate wooden joint connecting the shade to the cord represents the kind of thoughtful detail that separates exceptional design from ordinary lighting. Available in three sizes from the compact perfect for intimate spaces to larger options for grand installations, each pendant maintains those flowing lines that define Hammerborg's distinctive aesthetic vision. Fritz Hansen approaches the Orient pendant from their commitment to preserving Danish design heritage while maintaining the exacting quality standards that made Hammerborg's original lighting so influential in shaping modern interiors. Originally manufactured by the legendary Fog & Mørup and relaunched by Fritz Hansen in 2013 through close collaboration with the Hammerborg family, the Orient represents more than nostalgic revival - it's a celebration of the enduring principles that define exceptional Danish craftsmanship. Their philosophy centers on creating fixtures that serve both functional needs and emotional wellbeing through beautiful, considered design - which is why the Orient pendant represents an investment in creating spaces that feel personally meaningful and visually inspiring. Through premium materials, traditional hand-spinning techniques, and that distinctly Danish approach to balancing organic form with practical function, Fritz Hansen ensures each Orient pendant becomes a lasting source of both illumination and design inspiration in contemporary living.
