Organic Sicilian Garlic (lb)

Organic Sicilian seed garlic is an Artichoke softneck rooted in the garlic-growing traditions of Sicily and Southern Italy. Mediterranean growers preserved white and red-cloved garlics for braiding, storage, and bold regional cooking, and Sicilian-named strains continue that heritage in North American gardens. This certified organic selection offers pale bulbs, layered cloves, flexible stems, spicy flavor, and a late harvest. Mix & match savings. This item is eligible for the Garlic Mix & Match discount. Organic Sicilian is a softneck for growers who want more personality than a mild commercial white. Its 10–15 layered cloves bring a robust, savory bite to the kitchen, while the flexible stems lend themselves to braiding. The bulbs mature on the later side, extending the season after early Italian and California types have been lifted. It is a flavorful way to build a longer harvest window and a handsome certified organic pantry crop. The flavor is robust and savory with noticeable spice. Mince cloves into tomato sauces, pesto, marinades, and dressings, or roast them with vegetables, bread, fish, and meats. Cooking softens the sharper edge and develops sweetness while preserving a distinctly garlic-forward finish. Mixed clove sizes suit different tasks: larger cloves for slicing and roasting, smaller cloves for stocks, pastes, and quick sautés. When growing organic Sicilian garlic, choose a sunny fall bed that can remain in production into late summer. Local winter temperature and day length will influence how this softneck bulbs, so steady care matters more than a fixed calendar date. Keep spring growth evenly watered and weed-free, then taper irrigation as the tops decline. Cure the mature bulbs under cover with strong airflow, retaining the stems if you plan to braid them.
