Choose Your Size Available in 3 lb and 5 lb boxes. 3 lb Box: Perfect for fresh eating, sharing, baking, and discovering this unique seasonal fruit. 5 lb Box: Ideal for preserves, pies, chutneys, freezing, entertaining, or anyone who simply loves Husk Cherries. What Are Ground Cherries? Despite their name, Husk or Ground Cherries aren't cherries at all—they're members of the tomato family. Each golden fruit ripens inside a delicate papery husk that naturally protects it while concentrating its sweetness. How to Enjoy Them Peel away the husk and enjoy them fresh, add them to fruit salads, bake them into pies and crisps, cook them into jams or chutneys, or pair them with yogurt, cheeses, and ice cream. They also make outstanding salsas and cocktail garnishes. Storage Tips Store Husk Cherries in their husks at room temperature for several days, or refrigerate for longer storage. For long-term storage, remove the husks and freeze the fruit whole. Seasonal Availability Husk Cherries are one of the highlights of late summer. Their season is brief, making them a true seasonal specialty. Frequently Asked Questions Do I eat the husk? No. Peel away and discard the papery husk before enjoying the fruit. Can I freeze Ground Cherries? Yes. Remove the husks, wash and dry the fruit, then freeze in a single layer before transferring to freezer bags. They're excellent for baking, sauces, and preserves year-round. Shipping & Delivery We ship all produce via overnight delivery nationwide. At checkout, please select your preferred delivery date.
